This article explain how you can turn on/off data saver mode on your iPhone. But before that, here are what you should know about low data mode on iPhone and iPad.

Low data mode [data saver] reduces the rate of internet data your iPhone or iPad uses.

It work for both cellular network and WiFi network.

Low data mode reduce videos, image and music quality. It also stop background download automatically.

Apps might not work properly when your not using them.

Unused apps will not refresh itself when low data mode is enabled.

Automatic download and backup will stop working untill you accessed them.

iCloud photos will also pause updates.

App Store video auto play, auto download and auto updates will also be paused.

Music automatic downloads and high streaming are turned off.

FaceTime video bitrate is optimized for lower bandwidth.

Podcast download will only work on WiFi
